Answer

Chosen drug: Oxytocin

Justification: Oxytocin is the drug of choice for induction of labour because it produces rhythmic, physiological uterine contractions with a titratable IV infusion, allowing controlled onset and progression of labour with close monitoring. Methylergometrine produces sustained, tonic uterine contraction (not rhythmic), which does not mimic the physiological pattern needed to safely progress a fetus through labour and carries risk of uterine rupture/fetal hypoxia if used for induction — it is used instead for postpartum haemorrhage prevention/treatment after delivery, not for labour induction.
