Answer

a) Mifepristone A progesterone receptor antagonist (antiprogestin). MOA: competitively blocks progesterone receptors in the endometrium and myometrium, causing decidual breakdown, cervical softening, and increased uterine contractility/prostaglandin sensitivity. Uses: medical termination of pregnancy (combined with misoprostol), emergency contraception (higher dose), induction of labour in intrauterine fetal death. Adverse effects: vaginal bleeding, abdominal pain/cramping, nausea.

b) Uses of anabolic steroids Cachexia/wasting states (chronic illness, HIV-associated wasting), management of hereditary angioedema (danazol), hypogonadism (testosterone replacement), and historically for aplastic anemia (largely superseded by other therapies now). Misused for athletic performance/muscle mass enhancement, an indication that carries no medical justification and significant health risk.
