Answer

Dantrolene sodium acts directly on skeletal muscle. It binds to the ryanodine receptor (RyR1) on the sarcoplasmic reticulum, inhibiting calcium release into the myoplasm. This reduces excitation-contraction coupling and produces skeletal muscle relaxation — it is the specific treatment for malignant hyperthermia and is also used in severe spasticity.
