Answer
Verapamil is the appropriate choice — a non-dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker with significant action at the AV node, slowing conduction and terminating/controlling rate in supraventricular tachyarrhythmias. Nifedipine, a dihydropyridine, is highly vascular-selective with minimal direct effect on cardiac conduction tissue, so it has no meaningful antiarrhythmic action and is not used for this indication — its role is confined to hypertension and angina.
