Two dimorphic fungi (mould at 25°C, converting to a tissue-invasive yeast/spherule form at 37°C):
- Histoplasma capsulatum — causes histoplasmosis; small intracellular yeast in macrophages at 37°C.
- Sporothrix schenckii — causes sporotrichosis; cigar-shaped budding yeast at 37°C.
(Other valid examples: Blastomyces dermatitidis, Coccidioides immitis, Paracoccidioides brasiliensis, Talaromyces marneffei.)
