Answer

a) Drugs for peptic ulcer, and triple therapy for H. pylori

GroupExamples
Proton pump inhibitorsOmeprazole
H2 receptor antagonistsRanitidine
AntacidsAluminium hydroxide
Mucosal protective agentsSucralfate, Misoprostol

Triple drug regimen: a proton pump inhibitor plus two antibiotics (typically Clarithromycin and Amoxicillin, or Metronidazole in penicillin-allergic patients), given for 10-14 days — the PPI creates a less hostile environment for the antibiotics while directly promoting ulcer healing.

b) Ondansetron A 5-HT3 receptor antagonist. MOA: blocks serotonin receptors peripherally (vagal afferents) and centrally at the chemoreceptor trigger zone. Uses: chemotherapy/radiotherapy-induced and post-operative nausea/vomiting. Adverse effects: headache, constipation, QT prolongation.
