These are important in tumour spread and staging.
Pre-epiglottic Space
Contains:
- fat
- areolar tissue
- lymphatics
Clinical Importance
Commonly invaded by supraglottic cancers.
Paraglottic Space
Continuous with pre-epiglottic space.
Clinical Importance
Tumour spread here may produce:
- cord fixation
- extralaryngeal spread
Reinke’s Space
Potential subepithelial space of true vocal cord.
